Bronze geared astronomical computer recovered from a Roman-era shipwreck around 100 BCE off the Greek island of Antikythera in 1901.

X-ray and CT scanning since the 2000s have revealed at least 30 interlocking gears modelling lunar and planetary motion. The mechanism’s sophistication has no surviving contemporaries until the 14th century.
